Climb for a Cure, Community in Action

Climb for a Cure: Community in Action

Momentum recently had the honor of joining Coach Celichowski and the team at CrossFit X Factor for the Climb for a Cure fundraiser workout, and it was an incredible display of heart, grit, and community.

Climb for a Cure is a community-driven fundraiser hosted by CrossFit X Factor in partnership with the Portland Fire Stairclimb Team. The event brings athletes together to support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and the annual firefighter stair climb in Seattle, where members of Portland Fire & Rescue take on 69 flights of stairs in full gear to raise money for blood cancer research and patient support.

Thanks to this amazing community, more than $3,500 was raised, with every dollar going directly toward supporting LLS and the firefighters representing our city. It was one of those reminders that when a strong community comes together for a meaningful cause, it can make a real impact.

Athletes took on the Hero WOD “CHAD” with RX, partner, and kids options, making the event welcoming and accessible for a wide range of ages and experience levels. The energy was high all morning, the playlist kept everyone moving, and even after the final rep, there were still plenty of smiles to go around.

Dr. Nicolette was on site providing pre- and post-WOD tune-ups, helping athletes feel, move, and perform at their best. The event wrapped up with raffle prizes valued at more than $380, generously donated by local businesses including Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, neighborhood coffee shops, and other community supporters who helped make the day even more special.

We’re proud to be part of a community that shows up for each other and rallies around something bigger than itself. Events like this are a powerful reminder that strength is not just built in the gym. It is built through generosity, support, and a shared commitment to making a difference.
